Microblading (also referred to as Microstroking, Eyebrow Embroidery, Feather Stroke Brows, 3D Brows, etc.) is the process of manually implanting color pigment into the dermis, by means of tiny, sterile, disposable needles to create the appearance of natural looking hair strokes.
Most clients report little to no pain, and would compare it to a tweezing session. Many clients even fall asleep! Topical anesthetic is applied prior and during the procedure so the client can feel at ease while receiving the treatment. NB: Please inform me prior to your appointment if you are allergic to Lidocaine or Tetracaine , if you are pregnant or nursing or if you have any auto-immune diseases such as diabetes or HIV.
Healing time differs from person to person. Scabbing usually lasts around 10 days , in which the eyebrows need to be kept clean of any creams and makeup. You will also not be allowed to wet your eyebrows or sweat during the healing. Once your scabs have come off naturally and the brows appear much lighter, penciling/filling in can resume (if needed) until your touch-up at 8 - 12 weeks ( Thereafter the same 10 days applies)
A microblading sessions consists of a consultation the day of, where we review your lifestyle and daily brow maintenance. I then map the brows according to your facial structure with the golden Phi ratio of balanced proportion. Once you approve the brow shape, the procedure takes about an hour and a half. This entire session takes a total of 2.5-3 hours.
The pigment tends to last between 12-24 months depending on how your skin heals. After this period of time, you may need a color boost or refresher annually to maintain the longevity of your brows.
Please review my detailed Pre & Post Care Instructions. You must strictly follow these instructions to ensure a comfortable, safe healing process and also achieve the best possible results.
Microblading is not recommended for those with oily skin or large pores. If that’s you, you may want a shading or combination shading and microblading technique. We also do not provide microblading for people:
  • under 18 years old
  • pregnant or nursing
  • if you have diabetes, glaucoma, skin diseases such as Shingles, psoriasis or eczema on the area of treatment
  • allergies to makeup
  • Keloid disorder, HIV/Hepatitis, skin cancer, hemophilia, or if you’re taking skin medications like ro-accutane and steroids.

Please also refer to the appointment information tab under Pre Care

  • The pigment color will change and fade over time. An annual touch up is recommended to keep your brows looking their best. Fading greatly depends on your skin type, lifestyle, sun exposure, pigment color used, broken capillaries, iron deficiency, and if any aggressive skincare products or services were completed after your procedure.
  • When using acidic or brightening skincare products or services (chemical peels, Retin-A, salicylic acid, glycolic acid, etc.) please fully cover your brow tattoo with Vaseline, prior to product application on your skin.
  • If you are planning to have an MRI, please inform the technician that you have had an iron-oxide cosmetic tattoo.
  • If you are planning to have laser treatments, you must fully cover your brow tattoo with 20% zinc oxide. Laser may cause pigment prematurely fade or change color.
Henna is extracted from the fibers of the henna plant, and has a history stretching back five thousand years. Henna has been used in traditional body art, as a hair dye and treatment, and for medicinal purposes. Henna encourages hair growth, acting as a skin and hair conditioner as well as a dye treatment–it really does everything! The Henna Brows solution is very strongly pigmented, ensuring a sharp shape for your brows that lasts much longer than a normal tint. As henna stains the skin temporarily, you will get the added benefit of deeper definition for around fourteen days–so ditch those brow pencils, ladies!
Henna’s natural dye is far more effective than an average brow tint–you should be looking at 4-5 weeks worth of beautifully defined henna brows. Henna also will stain the skin for 7-10 days on average, as a little added extra.
Absolutely! Henna Brows is perfect for those with red tones – we have a huge range of colours and can tone down the redness with ashy blonde/brown if needed, or enhance your ginger tones too! We know that redheads come in all shades, so we customise our Henna Brows colours to suit your individual brow. Just chat to your stylist, who will be happy to create the perfect shade for you.
Henna absorbs much faster and deeper into the hair follicles than a normal tint, so it’s a great choice for those with lighter or more mature hair. Henna Brows is a deep tint and can create a strong brow, so we would recommend patch testing or choosing a slightly lighter shade for the best possible result. We will always chat to you before applying your Henna Brows treatment to ensure that your brow shade is right for you.
f your brows are on the sparse side, Henna Brows could be your next favourite thing. The powerful natural dye is great for reshaping and filling out the brows–it picks up every little hair and stains the skin for brows that wow! Our stylists are highly trained in brow design and can customise the brow shape and colour to best suit your face. Plus, the conditioning properties of henna allow for increased hair growth, so you’re helping those brows out at the same time!
If you have an existing tattoo, you can absolutely try the henna treatment to freshen up your brows–Henna Brows stains the skin surface and hair follicles, but does not interfere with any pigments underneath the skin.
Henna Brows is a fantastic option for a less permanent brow enhancement, especially if you’re debating whether or not to take the plunge into permanent makeup. The skin staining can give a handy sneak peek into the brow shape and depth of color allowed by cosmetic tattoo – and you can take your Henna Brows out on the town as a tester!
Eyelash extensions are single synthetic/man-made lashes applied directly to the natural lash, close to (but not touching) the lash line with a semi-permanent bonding adhesive. A single extension, or up to 5-7 super fine extensions, is applied to a single isolated lash, leaving the eyelashes and eyelids to move freely. They are applied carefully, one by one using specially designed tweezers.
Eyelash extensions are a semi-permanent eyelash enhancing service. Semi-permanent being the key because you lose 3-5 natural lashes a day. When your natural lash is ready to shed out of the follicle, if there is an extension applied to it, the both of them will shed out together. In turn, a new lash will grow from the root and a new extension will be applied during an infill.

There are many factors at play here, including your individual lash cycle and your aftercare. You might be surprised to learn that everyone’s lashes have a life cycle and shed, just like the hair on your head! Once a natural lash’s life cycle is complete, the lash falls out naturally, taking the extension with it. Everyone’s lash cycle is a little different, but on average you should be experiencing a turnover of your natural lashes every six weeks or so.

If you want to maintain your lash extensions, I recommend infilling your lash set approximately every 2 – 4 weeks. By this stage, some lashes would have fallen out as new lashes have grown through. In an infill appointment, I carefully replace these fallen extensions with brand new ones!

Perhaps the largest misconception when it comes to lash extensions is the idea that they will harm your natural lashes. Let's clear that up — they will not. If applied properly eyelash extensions will not ruin the health of our natural lashes. If the proper lengths and thicknesses are selected, no harm should come to your natural lashes. Please don’t try to remove the eyelash extensions yourself – this could easily damage your natural lashes, as the adhesive bond is extremely strong.

A full-set application takes between 1½ to 3 hours and 1 to 1½ hours for an infill.

Around 2 to 3 weeks after your initial lash appointment, some of your natural lashes will have reached the end of their life cycles and shed. You will start seeing little gaps where the old ones have fallen, with new baby lashes coming through – at this point it’s a good time to get infills, so your lashes always look nice and full. Once a baby lash is mature and strong enough to hold an extension, we can apply a lash there!

If you are experiencing any issues in the first 3 days after your appointment, please contact me and I will do whatever I can do assist you.

I generally find the most common cause of lash shedding is oily product use and being rough with cleansing – so try to cleanse gently but thoroughly.

How long lashes will last varies individually – someone with dryer skin, wearing less makeup but a fuller set of lashes/more extensions will usually get a lot longer out of the extensions than someone with oily skin, using lots of eye makeup, and only wearing a lite set. Hormonal changes, particularly peri-menopause and the onset of menopause, certain medications (thyroid, ro-accutane/accutane) can sometimes cause lashes to not last as well as normal.

Please don’t think that is is normal/good for lashes to last 8 weeks. It isn’t – if you’ve had lashes elsewhere, and haven’t lost many/any lashes by this point, it’s not a good sign – it means that your lashes are probably all fused together and therefore unable to keep growing and fall out/replace themselves. They need to fall out gradually in order to grow and remain healthy! Normal is 2.5-3 weeks between infills, outliers with good retention will get 4-5 weeks, and some people need them every 2 weeks.

No – once your eyelash extensions are applied, they should feel just like your normal lashes. The eyelash extension is bonded to the actual lash (not your eyelid) so it feels just like your normal lashes. The only way that lashes can become uncomfortable is if you repeatedly rub your eyes or are rough with your extensions – this can damage or twist the extensions, which could make them feel awkward on your eye.

Yes, eyelash extensions may be removed at any time and for any reason. The removal process is similar to the application process, but only takes about 30 minutes.
Eyelash extensions are designed to give your natural lashes an improved look of fullness so mascara is not needed.

Yes, you can – as long as it oil-free and very low in glycol/glycerin. These ingredients attack the glue, loosening the lash bond and causing extensions to out prematurely. I’d recommend: liquid/pen liner (oil-free) – gel liner tends to stick in the roots of the lashes and is tough to remove. Powder-type eyeshadows are fine – check the ingredients list of liquid/stick eyeshadow for glycol and glycerin, as sometimes these products are snuck in!

I definitely recommend trialing them a few weeks before the big day, then infilling closer to the event. This is because a) you don’t want to develop a surprise allergic reaction/red eye reaction the day before your wedding – testing it out first is a good idea – and b) this allows you to trial a certain look and then adjust it before the wedding. Give me a call if you need assistance scheduling wedding bookings – if I know it’s your wedding, I will normally try to extend the appointment time a little bit (at no extra cost) as I know how important it is!

You must use an oil-free, glycol-free, lash-safe makeup remover – oil-based removers will damage the lash adhesive and can make eyelash extensions fall off prematurely. Please DON’T use micellar water, makeup wipes, baby oil or baby shampoo to remove your makeup – these products contain oils, with makeup wipes - it usually snags and pulls on your extensions. Once you’ve removed your makeup - using lash-safe makeup remover, cleanse with a lash-safe foaming lash cleanser. Please be gentle – they are fragile when wet – don’t rub them firmly, they need gentle cleansing to last well, and please brush your lashes.
If you’re wearing eyelash extensions, avoid rubbing your eyes whenever possible. When you rub your eye, the friction can cause your lashes to twist out of place – in some cases they can be ripped out by a stray fingernail or knuckle! If your eyes are itchy or dry, keep moisturising eye-drops on hand and try your best not to rub. This can get tough for those with seasonal allergies, but we promise that healthy, glamorous lashes are worth it!
An allergic reaction to eyelash extensions is similar to other contact allergies, also known as contact dermatitis. Symptoms can appear within a few minutes to a few hours after the application. An allergic reaction to eyelash extensions can occur in one or both of the eyes. If you have had an allergic reaction to any eyelash extensions (swollen, red, puffy eyelids and under eye area) I cannot ethically apply any lashes in the future – this means it would be highly likely you will be allergic again and subsequent reactions can be worse. If you do have an allergic reaction, you must seek medical attention prior to making an appointment to remove the extensions.
